Ikechukwu Benjamin Moses

Visiting Post-Doctoral Researcher

Ikechukwu Benjamin Moses comes to the Theraphage Lab as a visiting postdoctoral fellow from the Paulista School of Medicine at the Federal University of Sao Paulo where he is supervised by Dr. Ana Gales. His work primarily focuses on antimicrobial resistance surveillance and investigating the mechanisms which microorganisms employ to inactivate potent antimicrobials, including how they evade the immune system to cause diseases in both humans and animals. He is also focusing on the development of alternative therapeutic approaches for tackling the increasing trends of antimicrobial resistance in human and veterinary medicine. While at the Slavcev lab, he will investigate the production and characterization of novel bacteriophage-based nanomedicines, pharmaceuticals, and gene delivery systems. Specifically, he is exploring the antimicrobial potential of bacteriophage endolysin against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus pseudintermedius strains.
